According to Shaggi, he was carrying out a routine brand activation assignment while filming a comedy skit beneath the Sango-Ota bridge when he was struck by a stray bullet in March 2026.
Reports published at the time said the Ogun State Police Command could not immediately confirm whether the incident occurred within its jurisdiction. The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continued.
Recounting the frightening experience, Shaggi said he lost consciousness before reaching the hospital and could only remember praying as those around him rushed him to seek medical attention.
He described the uncertainty he felt while waiting for medical personnel to reassure him that he would recover.
The injury also forced him to confront questions about his future in entertainment, particularly because his comedy performances often involve dancing, singing and other physical activities.
Shaggi explained that he had maintained a demanding schedule for years, moving between writing scripts, filming skits, recording music and travelling for engagements. Being unable to maintain that routine left him concerned about losing the momentum he had built since 2018.
He said the prolonged break was emotionally difficult, especially when he watched colleagues continue performing and releasing content. Although their work sometimes made him laugh, he admitted that it also reminded him of the uncertainty surrounding his own recovery.
Despite the challenges, the comedian tried to remain productive during his hospitalisation. He said he continued writing and began working on a YouTube series while considering how he could remain connected to his audience.
Shaggi disclosed that he initially underwent surgery in Nigeria but later sought further treatment in Dubai after being advised that additional medical care and physiotherapy would be necessary. He said he travelled to Dubai after approximately four months and experienced encouraging progress following another operation.
According to the entertainer, he was able to stand with support on the second day after the procedure and began walking with crutches on the third day.
Although his condition has improved, Shaggi said his recovery is still ongoing. He can now stand without crutches but continues to use them for support as he works towards regaining his mobility.
Reflecting on the incident, the comedian expressed gratitude that the bullet had not struck a more vulnerable part of his body. He described surviving the experience as a second chance and said the ordeal had given him a renewed appreciation for life.
Shaggi also reassured fans that he intends to return with new entertainment projects, asking them to look forward to more content as he continues his recovery.
His account has offered a glimpse into the personal difficulties that can accompany a sudden injury, particularly for entertainers whose work depends on physical performance, regular public appearances and consistent engagement with audiences.
