Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has received the newly crowned Little Miss Nigeria 2026, Queen Aisha Salau Audu, at the Government House in Lokoja, celebrating her achievement as a moment of pride for the state.
The reception took place on Saturday, October 10, following Aisha’s emergence as the overall winner of the national children’s pageant held in Abuja. The 10-year-old, who is of Ebira origin and the immediate past Little Miss Kogi, secured the national title after competing against contestants from different parts of Nigeria.
Aisha was accompanied on the visit by Queen Pristine Somadina Chinedu, who represented Imo State at the competition. Pristine finished as the second runner-up and also won the Little Miss Nigeria International title.
Governor Ododo congratulated the young queens and acknowledged the significance of their achievements, particularly Aisha’s success in bringing national recognition to Kogi State. Her victory has drawn attention to the potential of children from the state to excel in competitions beyond their immediate communities.
The visit also provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of encouraging children to develop their abilities, build confidence and pursue opportunities that support their personal growth.
Aisha expressed appreciation to the governor and the people of Kogi State for the warm reception. She pledged to represent the state with dignity and use her platform to encourage other children to believe in their abilities and pursue their ambitions.
The Little Miss Nigeria pageant is designed to promote confidence, creativity, cultural awareness, leadership and positive self-expression among children. The competition gives participants an opportunity to demonstrate their talents and engage with Nigeria’s cultural diversity.
Aisha’s achievement follows her earlier reign as Little Miss Kogi and marks a new stage in her pageant journey. Her national title has been welcomed by supporters in the state as an encouraging example of what young people can achieve when they receive opportunities to showcase their abilities.
Pristine’s performance also added to the celebration, with her second runner-up position and international title recognising her showing at the national contest.
The reception at the Government House brought the achievements of the two young queens into the spotlight and underscored the value of recognising children’s accomplishments. Their success serves as a reminder of the importance of creating opportunities for young Nigerians to develop their talents and contribute positively to their communities.
