The film’s distributor, Nile Group, announced the milestone in a post on Instagram, thanking cinema audiences for their support. The distributor described the achievement as the highest box-office gross ever recorded by a Nollywood film released in October and the fourth-highest grossing Nollywood title of 2026.

The reported earnings represent a significant increase from the ₦170.6 million the film reportedly generated during its first four days in cinemas. Nile Group announced that earlier figure on October 5, celebrating the film’s strong opening and the turnout at screenings.

At the time, the distributor credited the film’s performance to audience support, highlighting packed cinemas and sold-out shows. It also described the opening as a record-breaking performance for an October release and a faith-based Nollywood film.

Agbára Nlá: The Return is a modern remake of the 1993 Christian film created by renowned filmmaker Mike Bamiloye. The new version was directed by his sons, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua “Jay Mikee” Mike-Bamiloye.

The film returned to cinemas on October 1, 2026, more than 30 years after the original production introduced its story to audiences.

Its reported box-office performance highlights the commercial potential of faith-based Nigerian films and the continued interest in revisiting well-known stories for a new generation of cinema-goers.
