The initiative, titled HER JOURNEY, carries the tagline “15 kilometres. Thousands of hands. One story.” It is designed to bring people together to recognise the challenges women face, the personal struggles they overcome and their determination to keep moving forward.

Beyond the proposed record attempt, the project aims to showcase Nigerian fashion talent, promote local craftsmanship and demonstrate what can be achieved through collaboration among designers, artisans, volunteers and supporting organisations.

According to the organisers, the pre-production phase is scheduled to run from November 20 to December 20, 2026. Planned activities include developing a prototype, refining the design, organising production and coordinating the materials and other resources needed to execute the project.

The organisers also said they had received communication from Guinness World Records regarding their application and the timeline for planning the attempt. A proposed window between April 7 and July 18, 2027, has been identified, although the final date and arrangements are yet to be announced.

To support the undertaking, HER JOURNEY is seeking sponsorship and partnerships from individuals, businesses and organisations willing to contribute funding, fabric, sewing equipment, technical expertise, transportation, logistics and media support.

The project is also inviting volunteers with experience in fashion production, communications, logistics, medical support, security, legal services and administration. Tailors, fashion designers, beaders, photographers, videographers, content creators and other skilled professionals are encouraged to participate.

Oluwanifemi said the vision extends beyond setting a world record. She described the initiative as an opportunity to celebrate women’s experiences, highlight Nigerian creativity and show how people can combine their skills and resources to achieve a shared goal.

The proposed 15-kilometre dress train would require extensive planning, materials, technical coordination and the contribution of many participants. Organisers are therefore calling on sponsors, volunteers and potential partners to support the project as preparations continue towards the proposed 2027 attempt.

While the project is being developed with the ambition of achieving a Guinness World Records milestone, its final record status will depend on the applicable requirements and verification process of Guinness World Records.
