The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Sallau Inuwa, popularly known as Liman Katagum, over the alleged killing of his colleague following a disagreement about car-washing charges in Bauchi metropolis.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at a car wash facility where Inuwa and the victim, identified as 45-year-old Ibrahim, worked together.

According to the police, the disagreement arose over the amount charged for washing a vehicle before it allegedly escalated into violence.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Bauchi State, SP Nafiu Habib, said in a statement on Friday that the suspect allegedly attacked Ibrahim during the dispute.

The victim was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead despite efforts to save his life.

Following a report of the incident, officers attached to the A Division of the command launched an investigation and began efforts to locate the suspect.

The police said preliminary information indicated that Inuwa had fled to his paternal home in the Liman Katagum area after the incident. Officers subsequently contacted the Divisional Police Officer in the area, leading to a coordinated operation that resulted in his arrest at Mararraban Liman Katagum.

The suspect is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi as investigations continue ahead of possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over the incident, describing the loss of life following a financial disagreement as tragic.

He also extended condolences to the deceased’s family and urged residents to resolve disagreements through dialogue and lawful means rather than violence.

The police commissioner stressed that provocation could never justify taking another person’s life, while the command reiterated the need for residents to exercise restraint when handling disputes.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and the suspect’s arrest does not amount to a determination of guilt.
