Arsenal have extended manager Mikel Arteta’s contract until June 2030, securing the long-term future of the coach who guided the club to its first Premier League title in 22 years last season.

The agreement was announced by Arsenal on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and comes after a campaign in which Arteta finally delivered the league title that had eluded the club since 2004.

Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and has since overseen a significant transformation of the North London club. His tenure has included an FA Cup triumph in his first season and, most recently, Arsenal’s return to the top of English football.

The Premier League title also ended a long wait for Arsenal supporters, with the club winning the championship for the first time in more than two decades.

Arsenal’s leadership has expressed strong confidence in Arteta’s ability to build on that success and establish a sustained period of competitiveness.

The new deal also provides continuity at a time when Arsenal are defending their league title and competing in the Champions League. The club made a strong start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign before suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brighton in September.

Arteta's influence at Arsenal extends beyond results on the pitch. Since taking over, the former Arsenal midfielder has overseen a rebuilding project focused on establishing a stronger squad, improving standards and creating a consistent winning culture.

His achievements have also strengthened his position as one of the leading managers in European football.

The Spanish coach said he was proud to continue his journey with Arsenal and described remaining at the club as a privilege.

“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” Arteta said in the club’s announcement.

He also praised the relationship between the club and its supporters, expressing confidence about what Arsenal can achieve in the coming years.

The extension represents a major show of faith from Arsenal’s ownership and leadership, particularly after Arteta ended the club’s lengthy wait for another Premier League championship.

With the new agreement running until 2030, Arsenal will now look to build on their title success and challenge for more major honours under the manager who has overseen one of the most significant transformations in the club’s recent history.
