Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, Chairman of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, following his installation as Baba Adinni of Yorubaland.

Olusi was installed during a ceremony in Lagos on Saturday, October 3, 2026, as part of activities marking his 90th birthday.

The installation was conducted by the Yoruba Land Council of Islamic Preachers, led by its National Ameer, Sheikh Taofeeq Akeugbagold. The ceremony was announced ahead of the event as one of the major highlights of Olusi’s milestone birthday celebrations.

Reacting to the development, Sanwo-Olu celebrated Olusi in a message posted on his official X account, describing the honour as recognition of his years of leadership and contributions to the community.

The governor also wished the Lagos political leader continued strength and wisdom as he marks his 90th birthday.

Olusi is a longstanding figure in Lagos public and political affairs and currently chairs the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council. His career has included elective and appointed public positions, while he has also written on aspects of Lagos history, traditional institutions and chieftaincy.

The latest honour forms part of a wider programme marking his 90th birthday. The celebrations include a leadership symposium and scholarship awards, the launch of an academy, a special prayer and thanksgiving service at the Lagos Central Mosque, and a grand reception.

Olusi also received another traditional honour in March 2025 when he was installed as Atobatele of Ado-Ekiti by the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe.

The October 3 installation attracted attention from political, traditional and religious circles, with Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, among the dignitaries listed ahead of the ceremony.

It is worth noting that the title should be reported with its conferring body clearly identified. A September 24, 2026 disclaimer from the League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land separately listed Ambassador Sharafa Tunji Ishola as its current Baba Adinni of Yoruba Land. The distinction means reports about Olusi’s installation should not automatically be interpreted as a replacement of the title recognised by that separate organisation.

Olusi’s installation comes as he celebrates nine decades of life and public service, with his birthday activities bringing together political leaders, religious figures, traditional rulers, family members and associates.
