The Ogun State Police Command says it will arraign three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court on Friday over allegations of obstructing police officers and assaulting officers during an incident in Ago-Iwoye.

The suspects were identified by the command as 51-year-old Alaba Mulika, 21-year-old Alawode Iyanu and 29-year-old Temitope Saliu. The police said the planned arraignment followed an investigation ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.

According to the police, the incident occurred on September 29, 2026, after a team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry around Fibigbade Street in Ago-Iwoye.

The command said that while officers were taking the vehicle to the police station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.

Police authorities alleged that a confrontation subsequently broke out, during which Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted. The command said video footage of the confrontation that later circulated on social media was among the materials considered during the investigation.

Following the commissioner's directive, detectives were said to have visited the scene, investigated the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and arrested the three suspects.

The police said the suspects are expected to face five counts relating to alleged conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, serious assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. The exact charges and their legal status will ultimately be determined through the court process.

The command stressed that allegations against the suspects remain matters for the court to determine and urged members of the public to use lawful channels when they have complaints against police personnel rather than resorting to physical confrontation.

Commissioner Ojajuni, according to the command, reiterated that protecting officers carrying out what police consider lawful duties remains a priority.

The development follows the circulation of footage of the Ago-Iwoye confrontation online, drawing public attention to the circumstances surrounding the encounter. The police said further information would be released as the case progresses.

The suspects' arraignment is expected to provide an opportunity for the allegations to be formally presented before the court, where the defendants will have the opportunity to respond to the charges.
