The ceremony took place at the institution’s conference room and was attended by the Commandant, Brigadier General Usman Ahmad, principal staff officers and heads of departments.
According to a statement shared by the Nigerian Army’s Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Depot, Chikadibia Anele, the Commandant used the occasion to appreciate the departing senior non-commissioned officers for their contributions to the service.
Addressing the discharged personnel, Ahmad urged them to maintain cordial relationships with the communities where they would settle and uphold the values of the Nigerian Army.
He also encouraged them to remain committed to the well-being of civilians and to find meaningful ways to stay active after leaving the military.
The Commandant advised the former personnel to explore hobbies and extracurricular activities that would help them maintain their physical fitness, noting that retirement would bring a change in their daily routines.
On behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Ahmad expressed appreciation to the officers for their dedication and service to the country. He also wished them success as they begin the next phase of their lives.
Responding on behalf of the discharged officers, the institution’s outgoing Regimental Sergeant Major, Master Warrant Officer Joshua Agwaru, thanked the Commandant for his guidance and mentorship during his time in office.
Agwaru also assured the military leadership that the discharged personnel remained willing to offer their experience and services in other capacities whenever the need arose.
The event featured goodwill messages and advice from officers, alongside the presentation of souvenirs and gifts to the discharged personnel. Group photographs were also taken to mark the occasion.
The ceremony provided an opportunity for the Depot Nigerian Army to acknowledge the contributions of the departing officers while encouraging them to maintain their connection with the institution and the wider military community.
