The suspect, identified as Salim Idris, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Filin Sukuwa in Jos North, according to the military task force.

The arrest was confirmed on Monday by Captain Chinonso Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, who said troops acted on intelligence linking the suspect to alleged criminal activities in the area.

Oteh explained that personnel from Sector 1 of the operation tracked down the suspect and apprehended him while he was wearing military camouflage.

According to the task force, preliminary questioning reportedly linked Idris to alleged incidents of phone snatching, public disturbance and impersonation of security agencies.

The suspect remains in military custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine whether further action is required.

The arrest forms part of security operations aimed at addressing criminal activities and preventing the impersonation of military and other security personnel in Plateau State.

Authorities have yet to announce any formal charges against the suspect. The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
