The exercise was organised by Team Wulukpense in collaboration with the Epie/Atissa Entertainment Forum on Saturday, with participants marching from Opolo to the Bayelsa State Police Command Headquarters in Yenagoa.

Carrying placards with messages against cultism and violence, the youths called for greater community involvement in efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.

The group was received at the command headquarters by the Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, who commended the organisers and participants for publicly supporting the campaign against cult-related activities and youth violence.

Adewale described the initiative as a demonstration of civic responsibility, noting that cooperation between residents and security agencies was important in addressing criminal activities.

He urged the organisers to sustain the campaign and take their message to more communities, particularly young people who may be vulnerable to cultism and other unlawful activities.

The police commissioner also encouraged youths to embrace responsible citizenship, peaceful engagement and respect for the law.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with community groups and other stakeholders, saying that information sharing and intelligence-led policing remained important tools in tackling insecurity.

Adewale expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between the police and residents would help preserve peace in Yenagoa and other parts of Bayelsa State. He also encouraged other youth organisations to organise similar activities that promote non-violence and peaceful coexistence.

The peace walk reflects efforts by community groups to discourage cultism and encourage young people to play a more active role in preventing violence.

The police command urged residents to support lawful security initiatives and provide credible information that could assist officers in preventing crime and responding to security threats.

Although the walk represents a public show of support for the anti-cultism campaign, sustained community engagement, effective law enforcement and youth-focused prevention efforts will remain important to achieving lasting results.
