Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has sparked conversations about age and relationships after sharing her observation that younger men appear to be showing greater interest in older women.

The actress made the comments during a recent podcast episode shared on her YouTube channel, where she reflected on how society has traditionally viewed women as they grow older, particularly when it comes to finding romantic partners.

According to Adegbite, women were often made to feel that reaching their late 30s or early 40s meant they should quietly withdraw from the dating scene, while younger women were perceived as receiving more attention.

However, she believes that perception is gradually changing, with some younger men becoming more open and confident about expressing interest in older women.

Using an illustration from Psalm 118:22, which refers to the stone rejected by builders becoming the cornerstone, the actress described the shift as a reversal of expectations.

She jokingly referred to older women who were previously overlooked as the new “premium package”, suggesting that age should not automatically make a woman less desirable or limit her opportunities to find love.

Adegbite also gave examples of younger men openly expressing interest in women aged 38, 40 and 42, saying their confidence can be surprising to women who are accustomed to traditional expectations about age differences in relationships.

She noted that such directness is part of what makes the experience interesting, particularly when the younger man remains firm about his intentions.

Her comments have drawn attention to broader conversations about age gaps in relationships and the social expectations often placed on women regarding marriage and dating.

While Adegbite believes younger men's interest in older women is becoming more noticeable, her remarks reflect her personal observation and do not establish a nationwide dating trend.

The actress, who is 41, has remained a familiar face in Nollywood, with roles in productions including Before 30. Her latest comments have added another perspective to ongoing discussions about relationships, confidence and the changing expectations surrounding age.

Ultimately, her message challenges the idea that women should consider their romantic opportunities limited simply because they have reached a particular age.
