The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Kogi East in the 2027 general elections, Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico, has pledged ₦10 million to support development initiatives in Okaba community.

Erico made the pledge during the inauguration of the newly elected National Executive Council of the Okaba Community Development Association (OCDA) at a community fundraising event held in the Federal Capital Territory.

The gathering brought together sons and daughters of Okaba, traditional stakeholders, community leaders and other members of the community to discuss development priorities and strategies for improving infrastructure and welfare across Okaba.

Erico Promises Long-Term Partnership

Speaking at the event, Erico said sustainable community development requires collective effort, active participation and a strong connection between community leaders and their people.

He described his ₦10 million intervention as part of a broader commitment to working with the Okaba community on development initiatives.

Erico said his relationship with Okaba should not be measured solely by financial contributions, but by sustained collaboration aimed at addressing the community's needs.

He expressed the view that stronger cooperation among stakeholders could help tackle infrastructure challenges and support development across Okaba and the wider Kogi East district.

OCDA Leadership Welcomes Intervention

The newly inaugurated President of the Okaba Community Development Association, Alhaji Usman Alfa, expressed appreciation to Erico for responding to the community's development appeal.

Alfa described the ₦10 million contribution as an important boost to the association's development plans and said it would support efforts focused on community welfare and human capital development.

Funds Target Priority Community Projects

The newly inaugurated OCDA leadership said the funds would be directed towards priority development projects and welfare programmes identified as important to the community.

The association said the intervention would form part of its broader efforts to improve living conditions and advance sustainable development in Okaba.

The event also provided an opportunity for community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and discuss practical approaches to addressing infrastructure and social development needs.

As the new OCDA leadership begins its tenure, the association is expected to work with community stakeholders and supporters to translate its development plans into concrete initiatives for residents.
