A brief encounter between gospel music stars Mercy Chinwo and Mera Owili has generated reactions online after a video from a recent event in Bayelsa surfaced on social media.
The clip, reportedly shared by Mera Owili on Instagram on Thursday, October 1, shows the singer moving around the venue and greeting people seated in the audience.
When Owili reached Mercy Chinwo, the two exchanged greetings. However, Chinwo's expression during the brief interaction caught the attention of some viewers, with several social media users interpreting her reserved appearance as a possible sign of tension between the singers.
There is, however, no confirmed evidence that the exchange was the result of a disagreement between the two artistes. Neither Chinwo nor Owili has publicly stated that they are involved in any dispute, meaning the interpretation of their body language remains speculation.
The interest surrounding the moment is partly linked to the singers' existing professional relationship. Chinwo and Owili have previously worked together on music, including the gospel song “Tamuno Eh,” released in collaboration with Pulse Worship. The two singers are credited as performers on the track.
Mera Owili has also been associated with Grace and Truth Nation (GNT), the music organisation linked to Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Blessed Uzochikwa. Publicly available music listings and reports have documented collaborations involving both singers.
Their professional connection has consequently made the viral clip more noticeable to fans, particularly those familiar with their previous collaborations.
As the video circulated, social media users offered different interpretations of the brief encounter. Some viewers suggested that Chinwo appeared distant, while others cautioned against drawing conclusions about a personal relationship from a short video showing only one moment at a public event.
Neither gospel singer has publicly confirmed that there is a disagreement between them, and the available footage alone does not establish the reason for Chinwo's expression or demeanour.
The incident therefore remains a social-media talking point rather than a confirmed dispute between the two artistes. Their documented musical collaborations remain part of their public professional history, while any claims of a fallout would require confirmation from either singer before they can be treated as fact.
